Arduum 2011 - Gun's and Rotars

Arduum Guns and Rotors - BC Cup Dh Race

July 8th, 9th and 10th, 2011.

For the final time the steepest, most technical DH Race takes place deep in the woods of Mission BC, in the shadow of the Mission Rod and Gun Club.

To honor the final race this year will be an ALL METAL ALL THE TIME EVENT. Music via two super large speakers in the back of the red Toyota will be running all weekend.

To compliment the music, Tyler Maine has agreed to serenaide the masses for the weekend.

That aside here are the final details of what you need to know to race for the weekend.

Race Course

You have probably seen the interwebz and all the chatter about the Rock Drop. This year after consultation with the First Responders and a review of our Emergency Action Plan, it has been decided that the Rock Drop will be "Pro-Only". Cycling BC's standards are that all drops over 1.5 metres are to be designated "Pro-Only". But not to fear the ride around has been cleaned up and is super fast as compared to last year, per Special K who rocks the "ride around" pretty hard.

Also to note is that you will be able to get your two mandatory runs in on Saturday to save you getting up super early on the morning of the race. We do recommend that you ride the course once before the race on race day as a lot can change overnight. (Like course alterations.... Kidding).

Parking Notifications:

There is limited parking at the base of the course and along Beiro Road. (Look for the DH parking signs.) This year there will be no parking at the Mill Pond per the District of Misson's request. There is to be no parking along the entrance road to the Mission Rod and Gun Club, or at the Mission Rod and Gun Club itself.

We have given the Club permission to tow any vehicle that is parked there. Please abide by these rules, no one should have to go and get their vehicle out of the impound lot after racing.

Camping:

In the past camping has been allowed at the Mill Pond. But this year the District has asked that no camping be done there. The road to the base of the race course is private and there are a number of people that stay there already. Please make sure that you collect all your garbage and leave the site how you found it.

Shuttles:

Shuttles this year will once again be 4 Mini Buses and 4 Cube Vans. They will leave from the parking lot at the Mission Rod and Gun Club. 15-20 riders will be able to fit in each bus and with the smaller vehicles they will be easier to navigate on the road. We all know how smooth that road is! These are the only vehicles that are allowed anywhere near the parking lot.

Registration:

Registration will take place at the Pinkbike Trailer at the base of the race course. Make sure you are super nice to the lovely ladies there, or they may just cancel your registration. This year there will be no paper copies of the racer kits, we will be forwarding you all the information that you need when you register online. Too many trees get cut down so we are attempting to reduce the impact on the environment by sending you all the information that you need to your email.

Food:

There will be a BBQ provided at a small cost to participants from 5pm-7pm on Saturday July 9th, 2011. All proceeds from the event will go toward the Fraser Valley Mountain Bike Association.

So the deal is this: $5 for a loaded burger with a pop/water.

These events wouldn’t happen without the help of the many volunteers. We are always looking for additional people to help for the weekend. No amount of time is too small we will work you into the schedule. Please email Karla at productions@dunbarcycles.com
